Jazz is music that was first played by black people in America. It shows strong and is a lot. Typical instruments are the trumpet, and clarinet. The first jazz musicians got a lot of ideas from and blues.


At the beginning of the New Orleans became the centre of jazz. The town was a mixture of many different . Later on, jazz travelled up the Mississippi River to Chicago and then to New York.


There, big bands made jazz . The 1930s and 40s were called the era. Many great soloists ,like Louis Armstrong, became famous during this time.


Bebop was played during the 1950s in smaller groups. It was music that was played very and with a lot of improvisation. In the 1960s John Coltrane and Ornette Coleman became great of free jazz.


Today jazz is played all over the world, in halls as well as in dark clubs.
